Harajuku Dolls

I have been very disappointed by the lovely and talented Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers clothing and accessory line. It bears no resemblance whatsoever to the funky layers of colors, patterns and materials that can be witnessed on the streets of Harajuku. In fact, the line can pretty much be summed up as cute t-shirts that feature Asian-styled characters wearing clothing much cuter than what can actually be purchased at Harajuku Lovers.

Now along come Fashion Angels! They are the perfect blend of my passion for fashion and toys! Although I am frustrated that their clothing selection is fun, funky and much too small for me to wear, it’s darn fun to look at. Get some inspiration from a doll’s closet here: Fashion Angels Clothing

From the company’s press release:

Fashion Angels Enterprises, Milwaukee, Wis., adds a unique twist to its mix-and-match doll clothing line with a trendy collection of outfits inspired by the creative and often wild style that started in Harajuku, an area of Tokyo known for fashion. Harajuku girls layer their clothing; combine plaids, stripes and other patterns, including “goth” skull prints; and favor unusual accessories like aprons and tiny hats. Fun and funky is the order of the day!

Pictured here are doll Bebe in Long Black and Pink Wig ($12.00), White T-shirt with Skulls ($7.50), Pink Layered Mini Skirt ($15.50), Black Stripe Leggings ($7.50), and Long Beach Sneakers ($8.00), while doll Izzy wears the Gatsby Hat ($8.00), Black Tank with Skull ($7.50), Velvet Shawl with Skull ($8.00), Plaid Tokyo Pants ($13.50) and flowering Brooklyn Hi-Tops ($8.00). She also carries the Leopard Messenger Bag ($6.50).

Each of the four Fashion Angels Living Dolls are sold separately for approximately $36.
